Volvo EX30 has lowest carbon footprint of any Volvo EV to date
Swedish carmaker Volvo has revealed that its new EX30 EV has the lowest carbon footprint of any of its EVs to date.
Volvo has announced that its EX30 electric model has the smallest carbon footprint of any of its all electric model. A life cycle assessment has been performed and equated to around 23 tonnes of CO2 per 200,000 km, which works out at approximately 60 per cent less than a Volvo XC40 petrol car.
Helping to reduce the model's impact is the use of recycled materials, with around 17 per cent of plastics coming from recycled materials, 20 per of steel and 25 per cent of aluminium.
But Volvo is keen to point out that works is continuing to further reduce its impact, with news that its battery suppliers will be expected to reduce emissions on the LFP battery by 20 per cent.
The Volvo EX30 is available with three all electric powertrains;
- 51kWh / 272hp
- 69kWh / 272hp
- 69kWh / 428hp
And two trim levels - Plus and Ultra. With a Core trim joining the line-up soon.
Drivers of the Plus trim level can expect a 12.3 inch touchscreen, two-zone climate control and front and rear parking sensors. Ultra drivers can also expect a 360-degree parking camera, panoramic sunroof and a 22kW on-board charger.
