Volkswagen Group reveals growing order bank of EVs
In the first quarter of 2024, VW Group, which includes Audi, Skoda and Cupra, saw their order bank for BEVs swell by 154 per cent compared to 12 months previous.
The Volkswagen Group has released order and delivery information for the first quarter of 2024, in which the Group which includes a myriad of household brands, saw a slight fall in overall BEVs delivered to customers but a significant rise in the number of orders it has taken.
In total, over 136,000 BEVs were delivered to customers around the world - with Europe remaining the largest territory. This represented a 3.3 per cent decline in deliveries compared to 2023. The largest drops being felt in Europe and USA saw deliveries drop 24 per cent and 16 per cent respectively.
However, incoming orders for BEVs in Europe increased significantly from January to March. More than twice as many all-electric models were ordered as in the same period last year (an uplift of 154 per cent), so the BEV order bank across the group currently stands at around 160,000 vehicles.

Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Group's Extended Executive Committee for Sales, says: "In a market environment that remains challenging, the Volkswagen Group achieved a solid delivery performance in the first quarter. Our diversified product portfolio gives us the necessary flexibility to compensate for fluctuations in demand in certain segments - as is currently the case with all-electric vehicles - in others.
"The higher order intake for our all-electric models in Europe makes us confident that we will grow in this segment both in our home region and worldwide over the year as a whole. More than 30 model launches across all drive types this year will give us tailwind in the coming months."
Across the group of companies, there are a number of new EV models set to increase order numbers, including GTX version of VW ID models - including the ID.3 and ID.7 Tourer, the Porsche Macan EV, Audi Q6 e-tron and CUPRA Tavascan.
