Kia Niro is the Winner of the Women’s World Car of the Year 2023
The Women's World Car of the Year award announces this year's winner for 'The Best Car In The World 2023' with the date coinciding with International Women's Day! The award aims to give a voice to women in the automotive industry and aims to recognize the best car of the year.
The Kia Niro has been judged to be the Women's World Car of the Year 2023, as voted by 63 women motoring journalists from 43 countries across five continents.
The announcement of the winner coincided with International Women's Day, a special date not only because it gives women a voice, but also because of the link in many countries between the car and personal autonomy.
Before casting their votes, the motoring journalists tested dozens of models. In the first round of voting, the best cars in each category were chosen from a total of 59 candidates. The winners were:
• Kia Niro (Best Urban Car)
• Jeep Avenger (Best Family SUV)
• Citroën C5 X (Best Large Car)
• Nissan X-Trail (Best Large SUV)
• Audi RS 3 (Best Performance Car)
• Ford Ranger (Best 4x4)
In the second round, these finalists were used as the basis for the selection of the World's Best Car 2023. The Kia Niro was the ultimate winner. Here's what some of the judges had to say:

The Kia Niro EV has a 64.8kWh lithium-ion battery giving a range of 285 miles (WLTP) and an electric motor producing 201bhp. It also has a Vehicle-to-Load function allowing it to power items of electrical equipment. The Niro EV is available from £36,795 with trim levels 2, 3, and 4.
The Women's World Car of the Year is the only car awards group in the world comprised exclusively of women motoring journalists and was created by New Zealand motoring journalist Sandy Myhre in 2009. She is the Honorary President while Marta García is Executive President.
This unique award aims to recognize the best cars of the year and to give a voice to women in the automotive world. The voting criteria are based on the same principles that guide any driver when choosing a car. The jurors do not select a ‘woman’s car’ because cars are not gender specific. Aspects such as safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, benefits, and environmental footprint, among others, are considered when casting the votes.
Beyond choosing the best cars of the year, the group’s goal is also to give visibility to women in the automotive world and to contribute to making women’s voices heard on all continents because mobility for a woman means access to many personal and professional possibilities.
