Upgraded Tesla Model 3 prices announced

The redesigned Tesla Model 3 is now available for purchase in the UK and Ireland, priced at £39,990, with delivery expected in early 2024.

The upgraded Tesla Model 3 is now available in the UK, with prices starting from £39,990 and deliveries starting in January 2024.

The revised Model 3 has an impressive WLTP driving range, up to 421 miles for the Long Range model with standard 18-inch wheels. This reduces to (WTLP) 390 miles (which is still excellent) with the larger optional 19-inch wheels. The updated Model 3 Long Range has a 0-60mph acceleration time of just 4.2 seconds and costs £49,990.

The Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive has a WLTP driving range of 344 miles on standard 18-inch wheels, or 318 miles on optional 19-inch wheels. With a 0-60mph acceleration time of 5.8 seconds, the Rear-Wheel Drive variant costs £39,990.

The Model 3 Long Range can ultra-rapid charge at up to 250 kW, with the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive having a maximum ultra-rapid charging of 170 kW.

One of the most interesting changes for the new Model 3 is the removal of the stalks on the steering column. The indicator stalks are replaced with steering wheel controls, including both haptic switches and physical buttons. If the Auto-Cancel feature is activated, turn signals cancel automatically when the car detects the completion of a manoeuvre such as a merge, lane change, or a fork in the roadway.

The gear selector used to be a stalk on the right-hand side of the steering column – so where’s that gone? Well, you now have to swipe up or down on the left-side of the central touchscreen to engage Drive or Reverse. The car will even automatically select Drive or Reverse according to your surroundings.

Tesla says that the ‘stalk-less’ experience delivers a more simple, uncluttered driving experience.

Other updates include, for the exterior, new headlights and tail lights, and improved aerodynamics (0.219) which contribute to the increased range. The Model 3’s interior has also been improved, with higher quality materials, new seats, ambient lighting and a new 8-inch rear display with integrated climate control, ventilation and entertainment. The cabin is also quieter, with a 30% wind noise improvement, a 20% road noise improvement, a 30% ambient noise isolation improvement, and a 25% impact noise improvement. The upgraded Model 3 features a new Tesla-designed premium audio system.
