The world's first ever rally inspired EV - The Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally

With a design that blends agility and power and is primarily influenced by rally cars, the Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally represents a watershed point in the evolution of all-electric vehicles. The new model also features Ford's first-ever RallySport Drive Mode 6, enabling both on and off-road driving.

The electric Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally sounds like a one-off concept but it’s actually a real production car that you can buy in early 2024.

The Mustang Mach-E Rally features a 91 kWh lithium-ion battery (usable capacity) and a ‘tuned’ version of the Mustang Mach-E GT dual motor electric powertrain, targeting at least 880 Nm of torque and 358 kW (487 PS) of power – the same as the current Mustang Mach-E GT. It has a unique rally-tuned suspension that has been raised 20mm compared to the Mustang Mach E GT and is equipped with specially tuned springs, MagneRide shock absorbers and 385mm front brake discs.

The Mach-E Rally gains gloss white 19-inch rally-style alloy wheels, which Ford says are “inspired by the long history of Ford rally vehicles”, and it has 235/55 R19 Michelin CrossClimate tyres that provide more sidewall and loose surface grip compared to the Mustang Mach-E GT.

The Mustang Mach-E Rally has the first-ever RallySport Drive Mode from Ford, which is designed for off-road driving and adapts electronic control systems to allow bigger slides, a linear throttle response for better control, and more aggressive damping for better handling in loose corners. This drive mode, combined with the new tyres, allows the Mustang Mach-E Rally to perform better in snow.

To test the Mustang Mach-E, Ford developed an all-new rally course at its Michigan Proving Ground. The course was specially designed by rallycross veterans to simulate what the vehicle might experience in the real world. Engineers and technicians then subjected the Mustang Mach-E Rally prototypes to 500-mile tests simulating rally-cross durability trials.

The Mustang Mach-E Rally features a rear spoiler that takes inspiration from the Focus RS, a unique front splitter, a black-painted steel roof, and a front fascia that houses built-in rally-inspired fog lights. The Mach-E Rally can be ordered in Grabber Blue, Shadow Black, Eruption Green, Grabber Yellow, Star White or Glacier Gray, and comes as standard with two racing stripes.
