Maserati takes wraps off GranCabrio Folgore

Maserati the famed Italian brand has revealed its latest all-electric model - the GranCabrio Folgore - at a celebration event about the brand held on 15th April 2024. It's the third electric model from the brand known as the House of the Trident.

The brand is calling the model the first all-electric luxury convertible and the fastest convertible too - thanks to three powerful motors each capable of 300 kW. The architecture is based on 800V and comes from Maserati's involvement with Formula E.

There's a 92.5kWh battery (83kWh useable) providing the juice to the motors, and Maserati has configured the packs in a T-bone shape which avoids putting the battery modules under the seats.

Thanks to that 800V architecture the car can take advantage of some of the fastest recharging speeds - capable (under the right circumstances) of adding 60 miles of range in just 5 minutes! The maximum fast charge speed being 270kW. The model can also accept AC power up to 22kW too - which is pretty rare as standard on an EV.

Inside the car, there's lots of room for each of the 4 occupants, and as you'd expect from Maserati, plenty of luxurious touches. The driver can control all the car's functions from a central 12.3-inch digital dashboard and connectivity with the usual 3rd party apps is there - so Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.

The canvas roof comes in a choice of five colours, opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16 seconds. The mechanism can be activated up to speeds of 31 mph.
