Legendary Ford Capri returns as an EV

The rumours have been confirmed - the cult classic Ford Capri is making a welcome come back, this time as an ultra cool electric car.

Designed and built in Europe the Ford Capri has transformed into sporty and stocky SUV. Ford is promising a range of bright and cheerful colours available at launch, including Vivid Yellow seen on these publicity shots.

At the heart of the car is a Lithium-ion NMC battery pack - available in Extended Range RWD or Extended Range AWD options. The WLTP range on the RWD comes in at around 400 miles, so we're expecting a real world range of just over 300 miles. The AWD is more powerful and that results in a small decrease in range but will be around the 300 miles mark.

Controlling things is a large 14.6-inch centre touchscreen complete with Ford's SYNC Move tech, and you can expect all the usual bells and whistles on it, from connecting to smartphones to controlling the plethora of safety and assistance kit the model comes with.

There are 12 ultrasonic sensors, 5 cameras and 3 radar sensors to ensure the occupants are as safe as can be.
