Kia gives makeover to award-winning EV6
Kia has given its popular EV6 model a mid-life refresh, including an upgraded interior, small range improvements and a new exterior look
Leading brand Kia has announced a clutch of updates to its award-winning EV6 electric car, with the updated cars hitting UK roads from the Autumn of 2024.
Instantly popular when it arrived in the UK back in 2021, the Kia EV6 offers exceptional long range driving, market-leading warranty and copious levels of equipment across the whole range.
So what's new with the EV6?
Plenty is the answer. Designers have given the front of the EV a makeover, with new 'Star Map' lighting. It's all part of the Korean brand's new 'family' look for the range and means it more closely resembles the new EV3 and EV9 models. The rear of the car has a more modest update, but the sporty GT-Line trim receives new front and rear bumpers, as well as exclusive (and optional) 20-inch alloys.
All flavours of the EV6 get a new and improved 4th gen battery and thanks to a higher energy density, the same size and weight of pack now has a 84kWh capacity, up from 77.4kWh. This adds another 20-25 mile real world miles to the vehicle's already long range.
The 800V architecture has always meant the Kia EV6 can take advantage of the fastest ultra-rapid public chargers - and Kia has raised it's game again by giving the new EV6 an 8% increase in max charging capability, up from 239kW of power to 258kW.
Practically, this means that under the right conditions the Kia EV6 need only take 18 minutes to charge the battery from 10% to 80%.
Inside the model, new customers can expect revised upholstery styles, a new steering wheel, and even a nifty fingerprint recognition system on the centre console to allow the driver to start the car without a smart key or digital key. Fancy.
The new Kia EV6 is available to lease now through DriveElectric, with a choice of the familiar 3 grade line-up:
- EV6 Air
- EV6 GT-Line
- EV6 GT-Line S
Customers can also opt for RWD or AWD powertrain options.
