Isuzu launches D-Max EV, the brand’s first electric pick-up

Revealed at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show at the NEC Birmingham, the D-Max EV marks a world first for Isuzu and a significant milestone for the commercial EV sector. It’s the first production electric pick-up in Europe to offer a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, over a 1-tonne payload, and full-time four-wheel drive, making it a serious contender for fleets and professionals that are ready to ditch diesel.

Power and performance

The D-Max EV is powered by a 66.9kWh battery and dual electric motors, delivering 140kW and 325Nm of torque. Isuzu claims it will offer a WLTP range of 164 miles — slightly less than the Maxus T90EV, but still sufficient for the daily needs of most UK-based professionals and fleet drivers. The new Isuzu pick-up will reach 0–62mph in 10.1 seconds, and a top speed of over 80mph.

Off-road performance sounds impressive with 210mm ground clearance, 600mm wading depth.

The D-Max EV introduces a new De-Dion rear suspension, replacing leaf springs for better handling and a more refined ride. Noise and vibration are reduced by up to 10% under full acceleration, offering greater comfort for drivers and passengers.

Trim options

Two premium trim levels will be available, based on the popular DL40 and V-Cross diesel models—in Extended Cab and Double Cab formats. Features include heated leather seats, dual-zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment, wireless smartphone integration, and up to eight speakers.

Built for business

With zero tailpipe emissions and no compromise on towing or payload, the D-Max EV is ideal for sectors like construction, agriculture, and utilities. It retains the proven toughness of the D-Max range, while offering a greener alternative to diesel.

The battery comes with an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty, and charging options include 11kW AC (full charge in 10 hours) and 50kW DC (20–80% in 1 hour).
