Ford Mustang Mach-E score double 5-star rating from NCAP
The Ford Mustang Mach-E has been awarded not one but two maximum five-star awards from NCAP, one in recognition of the model’s green credentials and the other for its performance in safety tests.
In NCAP’s strict crash test assessment the all-electric SUV scored an impressive 86% for child occupant protection and 92% for adult occupant protection. While the Ford’s long list of safety technology, such as lane centring, adaptive cruise control and auto emergency braking scored the model full marks for lane support technologies. Ensuring that the all-electric SUV took home the impressive five-star score, so coveted by carmakers.
Meanwhile for Green NCAP, the authority gave the Mustang Mach-E a 94% energy efficiency score for operation in warm and cold lab conditions. While scoring maximum 10/10s for both clean air index and greenhouse gas index.
“Mustang Mach-E was developed from the ground up as an all-electric vehicle, so we could develop safety and environmental performance into every corner of the all-new design,” said Stuart Southgate, director, Safety Engineering, Ford of Europe. “The result is that customers can be confident they’re driving a vehicle that can look after them just as much as it looks after the environment.”
