Fiat confirms electric Grande Panda is on the way

This is the latest incarnation of the Fiat Panda! Inspired by the 1980s Panda, the all-new Fiat Grande Panda will be heading to the UK in both all electric and hybrid versions in the next 12 months.

Happily, Fiat has resisted the temptation to supersize the new model, although rather than a dinky city car the new Panda will be a compact B-segment SUV-style vehicle. It does come in at a smudge under 4 metres in length - 3.99 metres to be precise - under the average compared to other B-segment models available.

As the images show, we can expect a bold and modern interpretation of the classic Panda design - the front headlamps are made up of 'opal cubes' and a grid pattern used for dual-use DLRs and indicator lights.

The bas-relief Panda wording on the doors and the Fiat embossing on the rear are complete the spectacular look.

Also promised is a range of bright colours, including the bright yellow, much approved by DriveElectric and we're expecting no grey in the line-up, given the Italian company's stance on the colour when it comes to the Fiat 500 range!

No news on performance as yet, so there's no confirmation on battery size, vehicle range or power.

Fiat says there's enough interior room to keep five people happy with the carmaker that both hybrids and all electric models will be built on the same Smart Car platform.
