Improved range and efficiency

BMW has significantly enhanced the efficiency of its latest iX models, thanks to advancements in battery technology and power electronics. The iX xDrive45 now features a larger 94.8kWh battery, while the iX xDrive60 offers 109.1kWh of usable energy. The iX M70 xDrive retains its high-capacity 108.9kWh battery but benefits from improved efficiency measures.

A notable new feature is the MAX RANGE function, which allows drivers to extend their remaining range by up to 25% before needing to charge. Adaptive recuperation, friction-optimised wheel bearings, and high-efficiency tyres further contribute to overall efficiency gains.

Enhanced driving performance

All new iX variants continue to feature BMW’s xDrive electric all-wheel drive system, with power delivery now optimised for improved responsiveness. The iX xDrive45 sees a notable power increase of 82hp over its predecessor, reducing its 0-62mph time to 5.1 seconds. Meanwhile, the iX M70 xDrive introduces an M-specific powertrain setup, delivering up to 1,100Nm of torque with Launch Control engaged.

Suspension and chassis refinements have also been introduced to enhance both comfort and agility. The iX M70 xDrive benefits from adaptive two-axle air suspension, electronically controlled dampers, and Integral Active Steering for improved handling at all speeds.

New design and trim options

BMW iX 2025 model

The latest iX sports a more assertive exterior, particularly with the redesigned M Sport trim, which features sculpted front and rear aprons, larger air intakes, and high-gloss black diffuser elements. A new BMW Iconic Glow illuminated kidney grille is now available, adding a distinctive presence to the vehicle’s front-end design.

Buyers can choose from seven new exterior colours, including Arctic Race Blue, Dune Grey, and Frozen Pure Grey metallic. Additionally, 21- and 22-inch M light-alloy wheels are available, while an exclusive set of 23-inch M wheels can be specified – a first in this segment.

Faster and more efficient charging

Charging performance has been improved across all models, with the iX xDrive60 and M70 xDrive now capable of rapid DC charging at up to 195kW, enabling a 10-80% charge in around 30 minutes. The iX xDrive45 supports up to 175kW DC charging. AC charging remains at 22kW for all models, allowing for faster home and workplace charging solutions.

BMW has also introduced enhancements to its Plug & Charge Multi Contract function, simplifying the charging process by automatically authenticating with compatible public chargers.

New technology and interior features

The cabin of the new iX benefits from the latest BMW iDrive system (Operating System 8.5), which includes an updated Curved Display and enhanced BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. The system supports video streaming and in-car gaming, ensuring a more connected experience on the move.

A revised M Sport interior trim introduces new M multifunction seats with Alcantara/Sensatec upholstery, an M leather steering wheel, and upgraded pedals. Standard equipment includes Adaptive LED headlights, Comfort Access, a heated steering wheel, and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System.

For added convenience, the Driving Assistant Plus package is fitted as standard, incorporating Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, front collision warning, and Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant. Customers can also opt for Parking Assistant Professional, allowing for smartphone-controlled remote parking.
